Homemade hot chocolate is a rich, comforting drink for cold winter days.
This guide explains how to make a thick, chocolatey mix in the style of Ciobar and how to use it for one creamy cup.
Homemade thick hot chocolate mix
Ingredients
- 200 g dark chocolate;
- 150 g unsweetened cocoa powder;
- 70 g brown sugar;
- 160 g granulated sugar;
- 250 g potato starch;
How to prepare the mix
Finely chop the dark chocolate with a knife. Transfer the chopped chocolate to the freezer so that the heat produced while chopping can dissipate and the chocolate is well chilled before the next step.
Once the chocolate has cooled, place all the ingredients, including the chopped dark chocolate, in a blender.
Blend until you obtain an even powder.
Do not run the blender continuously: pause for a few seconds between pulses to avoid heating the blades.
Transfer the finished mix to airtight containers and store it in a dry place.

How to make one cup of hot chocolate
Once the hot chocolate powder is ready, you can prepare a cup.
Combine about 40 g (about 2 tablespoons) of the mix with 190 ml of milk in a small saucepan, stirring well to prevent lumps.
Place the saucepan over the heat and keep stirring so the mixture does not stick. Continue cooking until the hot chocolate thickens.
Serve and enjoy the hot chocolate.
